Have you ever looked through your music and rediscovered some good stuff from a band that hit its peak decades ago?

Poking through my stuff the other day I ran across the Gravity Kills albums I have, and I'm curious if anybody even remembers that band.

What's some of the possibly obscure music in your collection?

Most of the music in our collection is probably obscure, even if it's recent (because there are a lot of Dutch and Flemish artists in it...)

Off the top of my head: Acda en De Munnik, Rowwen Hèze, Bløf, The Radios, Floes, Dites 34 (who unexpectedly played at our wedding)... A few artists from our collection that might be better known worldwide are Stromae and K's Choice (at least one of their songs is apparently banned in the US, so *someone* there has to know them...)

How do you ban a song in the US? Maybe from the radio, but I don't think we ban songs.

To answer the original question: we went to a festival last week where K's Choice was the main act, which was very nice although I didn't know most of the songs (their latest CD was after quite a long while of being split up and I think most songs came from there.)

@Sleet, I don't know what was banned exactly (on the radio, sale, maybe only in a specific location... I can't find anything back about it now, so maybe I just misheard or it's an urban legend). The song is 'Not an addict', which apparently promoted drug abuse. It is about drug abuse, but to say it's promoting it, would be a bizarrely superficial interpretation of the lyrics... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT2SsWOCoEw , or a more original version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cklb7L0OA1c . They also sang it at the festival we went to... well... a couple of lines, more or less, the audience took over most of the singing so they could listen to it for a change. :p

@Ian, yes, 'Papaoutai' is definitely one of his best songs! The problem is usually that his lyrics are a) French and b) very poetic, so most of the time it's guessing what he actually means. His video clips are also surreal (I especially like the clip for 'Formidable', which was recorded on hidden camera and shows him acting drunk at a tram stop in the middle of Brussels.)

This is the country of "Smoke Weed Every Day." I doubt the ban was particularly widespread. :P

I listen to a lot of jazz and ragtime from the 1900s through the 1970s as well as orchestral classical music, showtunes and random other stuff so most of my music is probably obscure. :P My taste is very eclectic.
