I'm surprised this topic doesn't exist yet! I want to ask you all - of all the songs you know or have heard, which would you pick as your personal theme song? Which best matches your daily activities or outward personality, or even your internal concept of self? It doesn't have to be your all-time favorite song, or just one selection; maybe one for general purpose and another for specific situations, but five is probably excessive. :P I figured this would be an easy way to become better acquanted with each member here, cuz music says something about the soul! :D

For me, I went to Deadly Avenger's album Blossoms & Blood. The whole thing is good and kinda suits me, especially "The Reveal" and the title track, but I decided that as of now, "The Wraith" is the best song I know of to describe how I see my inner nature - creative, elegant, mystical, reclusive, elusive, otherworldly. Pay no attention to my furry exterior; the nerd you see is only an illusion! ;)

Later on I may pick a song specifically for my fursona, but for now I want to see what the rest of you come up with! :)

Eh... I don't really know what song would be my theme song :P
But if I was about to make one it would almost be like a symphony because I like symphonies and a really big bunch of genres.
I guess it would be a mix of weird, mystical, melancholic, hard rock, classical, almost all types of metal, pop, pop rock, classic rock, aggressive, alternative/rock, a certain kind of trance, bluegrass, symphonious, deep/heavy melancholic and I could keep on. :P

I'm gonna have to go with Shine by the Newsboys. Its more or less a synopsis of how (I would like) to live my life. That aside, the music itself is appropriate; while its necessarily my favorite type of music, this song has a certain joviality and wonder that I reflect.

That is a good one, Tom! I have that album. Wonderful that you would aspire to that. Mentally filing under "TomIsAwesome" : joviality and wonder. Ivikk: He's epic and all over the place, just like his avatar. :P

Hmm, *strokes chin* So many songs I could choose... I think at the moment, "Amnesty" by Wolves at the Gate best fits. Ahww man, I just love their lyrics :D

I think the best song for me would be something like Nik Kershaw's The Riddle. Not because I'm mysterious, but because I'm kinda nuts and often a bit incoherent.

Aww, Fackel, Carson, you guys turned my frown right-side up! :( Anyway, it's been good listening to all these. Now every time I see someone's post, it will have not only an avatar but also a soundtrack!

I was thinking of this question the other day, and the song that came to my mind was one called "Lies" by Keith Green. Here are the lyrics:

When I was young I used to believe everything that I heard
Just what I heard
But now the only thing that I can believe is God's word
His Holy Word
But even now my doubts will open up for me
A world that I just despise
And then the shades come down, the lights turn off
And I'm left alone with my helpless cries
When I hear all his...

Lies, all of the devil's wicked lies
If you believe and your faith just dies
Don't you be a fool, don't you even open up
Or expose yourself to just one of his wicked lies

I want to go around the world and prove Jesus lives
You know He lives
And we're not only friends, we're family
We're relatives, relatives
But when I'm far from home and so alone
And my imagined fears get so over-sized
That's when I listen to the one no one should listen to
And get fooled by his disguise
Feeling weak from his...

Lies, all of his bad wicked lies
If you believe and your faith just dies
Don't you get fooled, don't you even open up
Or expose yourself to just one of his wicked lies

If you're well read, you probably know how the story goes
How it goes
That wolf can look so good especially
Dressed in the right clothes
The woolly clothes
And as he starts to knit the counterfeit he'll totally make you
Feel like you're paralyzed
He'll keep you spun around and looking down
Just when you should be looking straight to the skies
Pleading help from his...

Lies, all of the devil's wicked lies
If you believe and your faith just dies
Don't you be a fool, don't you even open up
Or expose yourself
To one of his wicked lies
To one of his wicked lies

In fact, once I remembered this song, I was led to another song of his I'd been looking for on and off for months, "Your Love Broke Through." I couldn't remember who sang it or what it was called.

That was actually the video that steered me to Kershaw to begin with. ;) I'd heard Blah Blah Blah and continued on to that artist's other videos.

Does it have to be lyrical? I'd have to say mine would be the theme of the Neon Tetra from Johan de Meij's "Aquarium." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xP15bZBLRs

I had the chance to hear it performed live more than a decade ago and I've been searching for it ever since. This is the piece that really made me fall in love with music, which has been a driving passion in my life.

Post Script: I think someone hacked and deleted my account here, because I had to re-register and all of my topics are gone.

That's a really great piece! I like it!

I think your old account was from before the software change. I'm glad to see you made it over, though!

Good choice, actually! I love orchestral music. My pick wasn't lyrical either. :P In the spirit of Tom's post, though, I chose one more that says how I want to live my life, and it happens to be another Newsboys song. I believe in the totality of God's Word, not just some parts of it, and I should be - I wish - unafraid to admit to that.

Paper Tongues "Trinity": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXORvIsMOMc

This song constantly reminds me of my spiritual battle.

Lyrics:

Oh I (x4)

You got a way of living your way,
Say, I want that.
I try to live my life through the people who need a come back.
There's to many problems to think that you can fix me.
My name is called the world and I'm dying of unbelief, see.
I'm the kind of person who's strong and wants to react,
so feel me when I fight for the cause of bringing hope back.
Don't ask me where I'm going cuz I can never prove that,
but I do have something to say:

[CHORUS]
I am reachin' from the depths of my soul,
hear me pleading!
I'm a child, I'm the poor,
I am needing!
To draw on your virtue,
you believe it!
Trinity, don't say goodbye!
And you know that time after time,
We will survive...
That's why I'm still alive!
[END CHORUS]

Oh I (x6)

Love and action takes the widow with her loss...
True commitment takes the orphans pain, because...
Bridges broken, their souls POURING OUT
OH WHY?!
Our days are numbered by
yet still we walk this line.

[CHORUS]

The word's can't break your bones,
so I release them in a song!
Unbelief get out of my head!
You can't win cuz I'm not dead!
Prison step aside,
cuz it's time for us to rise!
All my people under fire...
You can bet this time THAT I WILL SURVIVE!

[CHORUS] (x2)

I've been trying to come up with something that would count as my theme song. Today I realized that I just have to go back to my roots for the perfect one. It's very upbeat, and the storyline describes me pretty well.
My theme song.

I have a new theme song. Twenty One Pilots, "March To The Sea"

"There's miles of land in front of us,
and we're dying with every step we take,
we're dying with every breath we make,
and all fall in line.
A stranger's back is all I see,
he's only a few feet in front of me,
and all look left and right sometimes,
but all fall in line.
No one looks up anymore,
cause you might get a raindrop in your eye,
and heaven forbid they see you cry,
as we fall in line.
and about this time of every year,
the line will go to the ocean pier,
and walk right off into the sea,
then we fall asleep...

And as we near the end of land,
and our ocean graves are just beyond the sand,
I ask myself the question, 'Why...
I fall in line.'
Then out of the corner of my eye,
I see a spaceship in the sky,
and hear a voice inside my head...
'Follow me instead.'
'Follow me instead.'
'Follow me.'

Then the wages of war will start,
inside my head with my counterpart,
and the emotionless marchers will chant the phrase,
'This line's the only way.'
and then I start down the sands,
my eyes are focused on the end of land,
but again the voice inside my head....
says, 'Follow me instead.'
'Follow me instead.'
'Follow me.'
'Follow me instead.'
'FOLLOW ME INSTEAD!'
'FOLLOW ME INSTEAD!!'
'FOLLOW ME INSTEAD!!!'
'FOLLOW ME INSTEAD!!!!'

Take me up, seal the door,
I don't want to march here anymore,
I realize that this line is dead...
so I'll follow you instead.
So then you put me back in my place,
so I might start another day,
and once again, I will be...
on a march to the sea..."
