Never heard of it before, but I just looked it up. It'd be around 90$ for gas for me to get there, so if I could find somebody to split the cost with (either find somebody willing to go with me or perhaps pick somebody up on the way if any of y'all live in Memphis or Little Rock or somewhere else along I-40 between Memphis and Branson) then that'd be pretty doable.

I live 20-30 minutes from Little Rock, and am now interested in knowing more about this.

Oh shoot I just realized it'd be around $180 gas for there and back; $90 is just one way...still considering it though.

Tom, if I decide to go and you're willing we could either split the cost of gas and I could pick you up on my way there or something. Or if you don't mind (and any parents/roommates you live with don't mind) I could drive up to where you are and then leave my car there and you drive the rest of the way (which would be better if your car gets more gas milage...mine gets 18 mpg minimum so that's what I based the cost on. $180 is the maximum it'd probably cost for me). And if we could find anybody else to go we could get the cost even lower.

I'm okay with that, whichever you would prefer. I'm living by myself, so no problems there. Would this be an overnight venture?

Perhaps we should make different threads about different conventions? For the sake of organization?

If it seems that we have further discussion to list for GPFC than I'll make a new thread for that. I think maybe in the future this thread should be gauging interest for particular cons, not discussing details once it is agreed that people are interested? (I'm not condemning, I think I'm most often guilty for going off on tangents on this thread)

We used to have a whole board for con planning on the old site, actually! I fully support separate threads for different cons.

Yeah, I don't think I could justify driving all that distance for just one day. Which would mean I'd probably have to register for the full convention, don't those usually run around $150 or so when you do the whole thing?

you have to pay about $40 for the ticket, then for lodging if you have 4 people in your room, it should be about $90 ($120 x 3 nights / 4 people). then add whatever travel costs are, and whatever you buy.

Moderator note: I've split off all discussion about the Central Plains Fur Con into its own thread. Please make new threads for planning individual cons, and use this thread for more general or nebulous discussion of the topic.

The only convention I'm really gonna be able to do at this point will be Rocket City Fur Meet in Huntsville, AL, 'cuz my mom and I are planning a trip to go see my brother in Japan, so I'm gonna have to be saving my money for a good long while :P
