JOY: last Friday I went bird spotting on the Plateaux, a reserve near Belgium. It was wonderful. Unfortunate enough I couldn't take any pictures.

Hageven-Plateaux? Hey, that's only a 15 minute drive from us! Is it a nice area for walking? *makes a note to go there someday*

If you like interactive art installations, I can also advise the "Klankenbos" (Forest of sounds), a little further south, across the canal. My favorite there is a giant flute that you can stand inside and hear how the sounds are and how they change when you close the open end... (There is a ventilator to blow it, you don't have to do that yourself.)

Similar joy as yours: I went for a walk in the local swamp Saturday and there was a photographer in the bird hut that really knew a lot about what you could see there. I even saw a couple of snipes! (They're really hard to find, hence the word 'sniper'.) I'm a happy kitty because I didn't wear my rubber boots for nothing, there were a few nice big puddles that I could barely get through... Fortunately (for them) there were no cars stuck in the water this time.

Sorrow: I fell on my tailbone going down the slide with my daughter two weeks ago and it' *still* hurts.

Sorrow: The one lead I had on a new place fell through so I need to find somewhere else to move to around the end of May/beginning of June.

Joy:
I've heard many good things about "loot crate" and similar mystery box grab-bags, so I did a little research and I've signed us up for three of them. One is a "coloring book of the month" deal that mom thought would be fun, another is a LEGO set (+assorted goodies) of the month box for myself, and then there's the best find ever. It's a monthly mystery box filled with a handful of allergen free snacks. Mom has a problematic food allergy that prevents her from enjoying the majority of goodies out there, and this box caters to people with this allergy. I hope she enjoys it! :D

Sorrow:
On the completely opposite side of the spectrum, there was a death in the family late last week. Services are tomorrow, with the funeral on Monday. The deceased wasn't really part of my life, so I don't really feel anything about his passing. "If you never say hello, you'll never say goodbye" sort of deal. However, out of respect for the family I'll be attending both services, and frankly having to spend the day with the in-laws is a nightmare in the making. :?

Joy: Saw the Southern Lights/Aurora Australis! They were absolutely gorgeous! It's amazing that God can paint such a picture and create such a gorgeous show for us!

Yay! Analog? Digital? Sundial? Atomic clock? Laserbeam attached?

Joy: Ordered new glasses last Thursday. It was clearly necessary.
