Which of these two Disney character costumes do you prefer?

The vintage Robin Hood costume from the 1980's or the new Robin Hood costume?

Old:

New:

Personally, I prefer the vintage costume. The new one seems a little... well... eh... you know... odd looking?

I prefer the older one too. The happier look on his face suits him.

For the old suit, I agree about the smile; I also like the shoes and gloves better.

I don't know why they put eyelids on the new head, in most cases that just looks odd to me. I do like the shorter snout and clothes better, they're more toony.

(EDIT) I also don't know why they say that he can't be found in Disneyland Paris, because I'm fairly certain that the photo was taken there (on Central Plaza facing the Discoveryland entrance if I'm not mistaken, but I can't exactly pinpoint it on Google Street View.) I do think he's fairly common in some parades too.

I like the face better on the old one, but the rest of the costume seems higher quality in the newer one!

The legs on the new one just seem off - like they tried digi-padding even though Robin Hood was plantigrade.
Also, he looks more like Gideon Gray than Robin Hood.

The new one looks like he let himself go for 35 years

Clothes on the new one are much better, but neither is a good example of fursuit making.

Considering that "fursuits" didn't exist at the time, this was an excellent mascot costume made for use at a theme park. It had to be durable and easy to maintain. Imagine a hundreds of sticky little hands hugging this suit daily. On top of that, the performer had to navigate the park (at that time there were no meet and greets) and perform for the park customers in Florida's weather.

If anyone here is interested, the old cast member training video has been uploaded to youtube. You can find it at this link.

I can imagine that if park mascot costumes hadn't have come first there would be no fursuits. After all, the very first "fursuits" at Confurence 0/1 were created by Disney Imagineers (Shawn Kellar's costume) and professional mascot makers (Robert Hill's costume).
