This is great, thanks Sleet!
It comes from the Apostolic Constitutions, which is the second oldest piece of Christian church writing in existence (the oldest being, arguably the Didache). This would have been sung at a service called the Lucernariam, or The Lighting of the Lamps, celebrating Christ as light in the darkness, and providing a flame for the city to light its lamps from.
-End of Liturgy Nerd Moment-
I've loved this for years, I know this translation:
Hail, gladdening Light, of his pure glory poured
who is immortal Father, heavenly, blest,
holiest of holies, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now we are come to the sun's hour of rest,
the lights of evening round us shine,
we hymn the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Divine.

Worthiest art thou at all times to be sung
with undefiled tongue,
Son of our God, giver of life, alone:
therefore in all the world, thy glories, Lord, they own.

Well, it's nice and all, but to be honest the hymn itself is too slow for my style.
The contents however are really good.

@D_Rainbow12346 That is in the nature of Byzantine Chant - in the Orthodox tradition there is a great emphasis on meditation in all their services. Personally, I wouldn't want anything fast just before bed!
